About Smash Atoms (formerly The Torch)
Formed in 2012 by charismatic vocalist Glen Gilbert, driven guitarist Martin Söderqvist, bass monster Per Romvall and Taylor Hawkins stunt double Ola Lindström Smash Atoms seemed unstoppable and was hailed as the new best underground rock act from Gothenburg. But during the recording of what was going to be a classic rock debut, Glen and Martin parted ways due to personal differences. The band carried on under the new name The Torch with Martin on lead vocals and released it’s debut album ”Light That Fire” through Rambo Music in 2014. The band’s music was featured on swedish national and commercial radio.
A second album called ”Chasing Light”, showcasing a much heavier and grungier sound, was released in 2018 through german STF Records and was followed by European mini tours and festival appearances.
After some pandemic downtime The Torch signed to Italian label Wormhole Death in 2022.
During the current recording of what was going to be The Torch’s third album, Martin reached out to Glen resulting in the two sorting out their past, and combining their song writing skills in what will now be the Smash Atoms debut album. Ten years after the band was formed the time has come for an harmonic vocal attack that hasn’t been heard of since Alice In Chains, King’s X and the Beatles. Get ready!
